A più di un mese di distanza dall’ultimo appuntamento in Romania, il FIM EnduroGP World Championship è tornato in azione questo fine settimana per il quarto round in calendario. Un weekend speciale per Honda Racing RedMoto Enduro Team, che a Bettola (PC) ha affrontato la gara di casa, il Gran Premio d’Italia.

In un fine settimana con condizioni miste tra sole e pioggia, ancora una volta Steve Holcombe è stato grande protagonista. Terzo nel Supertest di venerdì sera, il pilota britannico ha mantenuto alto il ritmo in entrambe le giornate di gara, chiudendo sempre sul podio. Se sabato ha fatto sua la seconda posizione della E1 dietro solo a Garcia, domenica non ha lasciato spazio ad errori e ha conquistato una bellissima vittoria di classe e la seconda posizione Assoluta. Un risultato che lo consacra secondo nella classifica generale della E1 e terzo della EnduroGP, a pochi punti dalla prima posizione.
Continua positivamente la stagione di Samuele Bernardini, ancora una volta grande interprete dalla E2. Quinto sabato per qualche errore di troppo nel primo giro, domenica si è preso la sua rivincita, chiudendo sul terzo gradino di classe e centrando la top ten nell’Assoluta.
Capolavoro di Manolo Morettini, che conquista la sua prima vittoria Mondiale al termine di una gara praticamente perfetta. Già veloce il sabato con la seconda posizione nella EJ1 e a un soffio dal podio dell’Assoluta Junior, domenica il giovane della formazione è stato a dir poco fenomenale, conquistando una meritatissima doppia vittoria con un vantaggio di quasi un minuto sul diretto inseguitore Ahlin.
Weekend da dimenticare per Francesca Nocera, che non ha potuto prendere il via alla gara a causa una caduta causata da una buca nell’asfalto mentre raggiungeva il paddock e nella quale ha fratturato tre costole e perforato un polmone.
Ancora out Thomas Oldrati, in ripresa dalla brutta caduta di cui è stato protagonista nell’ultima prova degli Assoluti d’Italia.
Holcombe
“Un weekend davvero positivo. Dopo un buon Supertest, sabato in condizioni di asciutto ho faticato un po’ a tenere il ritmo dei primi, ma ho comunque ottenuto un buon risultato. Domenica, con la pioggia, ero più a mio agio e ho concluso a un soffio dalla vittoria. Sono un po’ deluso, ma ho fatto tutto il possibile. Ringrazio la squadra per l’impegno. Ci vediamo in Slovacchia”.
Morettini
“Un bellissimo weekend. Sabato ho commesso un grosso errore all’inizio, ma poi recuperato chiudendo comunque sul podio. Domenica, con gara bagnata e parecchio fango, sono partito subito bene e ho conquistato la mia prima vittoria Mondiale. Sono felicissimo: grazie al team per il gran lavoro!”.
Bernardini
“Sabato sono caduto subito in Estrema e ho perso parecchi secondo. Pian piano ho chiudendo in top 5. Domenica è stata una gara in condizioni completamente differenti e ho messo a segno buoni tempi. Mi sono giocato fino alla fine la seconda posizione, chiudendo terzo per un errore nella Cross. Va benissimo così, ora guardiamo alla prossima sfida”.

More than a month after the last round in Romania the FIM EnduroGP World Championship was back in action this weekend for the fourth round on the calendar. It was a special weekend for Honda Racing RedMoto Enduro Team, racing the home GP in Bettola, near Piacenza.

In mixed conditions once again Steve Holcombe was among the major player of the weekend. Third in Friday Supertest, the British rider kept up the pace on both race days, finishing on the podium. After Saturday’s P2 in E1 only behind Garcia, on Sunday he left no room for mistakes and took a beautiful class victory and the second place Overall. Thanks to these results he confirms the second position in the E1 standings and the third in the EnduroGP, just a few points behind the first position.
Samuele Bernardini keeps on his positive season as great performer in E2. Fifth on Saturday just because a few too many mistakes in the first lap, on Sunday he took his revenge finishing in P3 of his class and in the top five of the Overall.
Masterpiece race for Manolo Morettini, who takes his first victory in the World Championship at the end of perfect race. Fast on Saturday with a good P2 in the EJ1 and close to the Junior Overall podium, on Sunday he was nothing short of phenomenal, taking a well-deserved double win with a lead of almost a minute over his direct rival Ahlin.
Tough and unlucky weekend for Francesca Nocera, who could not start the race due to a crash while she was reaching the paddock. She fractured three ribs and punctured a lung.
Still out Thomas Oldrati, who is recovering from the bad crash of the last round of the Italian Championship.
Holcombe
“A really good weekend for me. After a good Supertest, in day 1 with dry conditions I struggled a bit to keep the peace of the front guys, but still had a good result. On Sunday, with the rain, I was more comfortable and I finished close to the victory. I’m a bit disappointed I could not win, but I did everything I could. Thank you to the team for all the efforts. See you in Slovakia”.
Morettini
“Great weekend. On Saturday I made a big mistake at the beginning, but I recovered finishing on the podium. Sunday was a wet race with a lot of mud: I made a good start and took my first World Championship win. I’m really happy: thanks to the team for the great job!”.
Bernardini
“On Saturday I crashed immediately in the first Extreme losing several seconds. I slowly recovered finishing in the top 5. On Sunday the race was in completely different conditions and I set good time laps. I fought until the end for P2, finishing third due to a mistake in the last Cross test. That’s good, now we look forward to the next challenge”.
